These photographs celebrate ten years of partnership between the University of Minnesota and community organizations, they celebrate the great things we can accomplish together, and they celebrate the hard work of these individuals. 2020 was a complicated year to be together: we had been driven apart by a virus, by systemic racism, and by politics, to name a few. And yet, the year was one of many where University and community members continued their work in spite of all the elements working to separate them. Participants who came together to be photographed had not seen one another in months because of social distance measures. When asked about a favorite part of their work, every single group replied, “my partner.” They shared about their lives, their work, and their families, but most of all they lingered in the space just to get a chance to spend time together. These are not just partnerships, they are friendships.
